With a focus on the modern legal environment, you will develop the complex problem solving and analytical skills required to meet the challenges of a contemporary global landscape while gaining an excellent grounding in economic theory and business statistics. Graduating with two degrees will open the door to a wide range of career opportunities in law or another area where legal skills are in demand. Specialised career fields include compliance, securities regulation, and economic analysis.The Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws is a combined undergraduate coursework degree that provides a pathway to legal practice. The degree focuses on key skills to work in fields such as the financial and banking sectors, leading policy institutions and NGOs, the commodities and futures markets, financial journalism, business and consulting. It hones your analytical skills to think independently and to form and articulate factual and legal analysis based on argument and evidence, and to solve multi-faceted problems.You will study the Bachelor of Economics concurrently with Bachelor of Laws junior core requirements. Bachelor of Economics requirements include a program in economics, units from the Open Learning Environment, and elective units as required from the disciplinary pool or the Shared Pool.After meeting the requirements of the Bachelor of Economics, you will progress to the Bachelor of Laws, completing a number of senior core and elective units from the Sydney Law School Undergraduate Table, in a specific sequence.The elective units will include at least one jurisprudence elective, and in your final year of the Bachelor of Laws you will have the option to complete advanced coursework and an honours thesis.
