In this programme, you will gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you in both your Arts and Fine Arts courses. Creative thinkers and makers consider cultural, social, environmental, ethical and political concepts and find compelling ways to share these ideas with their audience. The wide range of subjects available in the Bachelor of Arts means you can focus your studies on the aspects of society, people and culture that interest you. In your Fine Arts component, you will study contemporary art and pursue your choice from a range of art media and practices, including ceramics, photography, installation, performance art, print, moving image, digital media, sound art and more. This conjoint will deepen your knowledge of society, people and culture and enhance your critical thinking and communication skills. Using the skills and knowledge gained from combining these degrees will bring out the best in you and improve your career options.The study of Sociology includes four broad themes. By taking a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Sociology, you can move between these groupings and take the courses that interest you. Cultural sociology It explores cultural phenomena and how they shape and are shaped by societies. You can study the world of image and representation in areas such as the media. Applied sociology and social policy Social policy is concerned with systems of government and community response to perceived social problems, such as health, illness and wellbeing. Power and resistance Society has established frameworks for regulating and influencing human behaviour, but these frameworks are always contested. Some of the most important examples are sexuality, procreation and intimate relationships.
