This stimulating course includes modules in the French language which will advance your written and oral French skills, whilst complementing them with a range of cultural, historical, political and film modules. You will be given the conceptual tools to understand how society is mediated by cinematic and electronic images, whilst being taught in the heart of London and in close proximity to notable institutes of film and French. You will also take a year abroad in a French-speaking country. The year abroad offers students the unique opportunity for immersion in French culture. We have exchanges with a number of partner universities in France and French speaking countries, and the opportunity to apply for the English Language Assistantship Programme or to undertake an internship/ work placement in a French-speaking environment (typically sourced by students themselves).<br><br>Our French with Film Studies BA course involves studying required language modules which focus on high-level skills in written and oral French, and selecting from a range of additional modules from both areas of the course for a study pathway that matches your interests. The diverse course aims to deliver in-depth knowledge of the intellectual debates in modern languages, film studies and their relationships with other disciplines, such as literature, art history, philosophy, architecture, music, politics, and digital media. The course also provides an excellent background for pursuing careers in the media arts and related activities.
