Entrepreneurship is fundamental to the creative economy and the media industries and this exciting new MA Creative Entrepreneurship (Media/Music) aims at equipping you with the knowledge and skills to be successfully self-employed, start your own company or bring a valuable entrepreneurial approach to larger companies. It combines the insights of specialist strands with the broad focus required in this age of convergence, offering transferable skills applicable across the creative industries. The UK creative economy supports almost one in 10 UK jobs and is worth -84.1 billion a year to the economy (DCMS, 2016), outperforming the economy as a whole. Media industries support 487,000 jobs (DCMS, 2016) and the figures for self-employment exclude those who are directors of their own start-up companies and those employed by them. This MA combines a broad understanding of this fast-changing economy with specialist music and media expertise, equipping students to be both entrepreneurs starting their own businesses and ?intrapreneuers? bringing a sought-after entrepreneurial approach into established organisations. The programme covers entrepreneurship, innovation, marketing, finance and business networks. Inter-disciplinary work and cross-industry innovation is actively encouraged. The new Faculty of the Arts and Creative Industries has unprecedented expertise and practical experience across a range of creative disciplines, with staff members engaged in research and teaching.
