This unique course offers an approach to dance training that will nurture your skills as a performer, dance maker and facilitator, preparing you to graduate fully equipped with the necessary skills and experience to contribute to the professional dance world.Technique training provides the foundation of learning for all dancers on the course through Studio Practice and students engage in regular movement classes to support their physical development.As part of your 2nd and 3rd years of study, you will deliver dance workshops in primary and secondary schools on work placements, you will shadow community dance practitioners, set up your own community based projects, participate in masterclasses with visiting dance artists and perform in work by professional choreographers, as well as making your own work. Final Year students form a Dance Company and tour performances and workshops into local schools and colleges.The BA Programme is a contemporary dance degree that focusses on developing a strong grounding in various contemporary techniques. We also work in partnership with UCLan Student Union Dance Club, the university's biggest club. Our students have joined to take part in classes throughout the year, in previous years this has included tap, contemporary, hip hop, ballet and jazz. The society is for our students and is run by them, on gaining their place with UCLanDance students have joined regular classes, auditioned for competition teams and even auditioned to become a group teacher.BA (Hons) Dance Performance and Teaching is a three-year intensive programme of study, which aims to prepare students to work with confidence within creative, educational and community settings through dance, combining three intertwining strands of learning: Studio practice, Creative practice and Facilitation. All staff are practicing dance artist/practitioners who know the profession's standards and practices and ensure they are reflected in their teaching, keeping the course content up to date and relevant.<br><br>Links to employment are very strong on the DPT programme with students progressing to Primary, Secondary & Post 16 PGCE courses, MA study or working as Independent Dance Artists who perform, create work, teach and manage community/school based projects. You'll benefit from working with the country's leading dance practitioners and companies and you'll have the opportunity to shadow practice and develop professional networks.
