Applicants must have completed the equivalence of the CPA Preparatory Courses in one of McMaster's Honours Commerce or MBA programs.

Applicants must also have:

A four-year honours bachelor degree or equivalent from a Canadian University,
At least a B- (70 72%) average in courses on economics, statistics, corporate finance, introductory, intermediate and advanced financial accounting, introductory, intermediate and advanced managerial accounting, accounting theory, audit and assurance, and taxation with a minimum passing grade of 60% in each course
At least a B (73 76%) average in each of the last two years of university study.
To comply with the School of Graduate Studies admission requirements for graduate diplomas, applicants must have at least a B+ average (equivalent to a McMaster 8.5 Grade Point Average (GPA) out of 12) in the final year in all courses in the accounting discipline, or relating to the accounting discipline.
Applicants are required to submit evidence of their proficiency in the English language as part of their application. The most common evidence is a score on one of the following exams:
TOEFL: minimum score of 92 (internet based), 237 (computer based) or 580 (paper based), minimum of 20 per band,
IELTS (Academic): minimum overall score of 6.5, with at least 5.5 in each section
CAEL: minimum overall score of 70, with at least 60 per band
MELAB: minimum score of 85

York University course: YUELI Level 6 with a minimum final grade of B
University of Toronto course: Academic Level 60 with a minimum final grade of B
