New technologies, interdependent global economies, and expansion in developing nations have increased the demand for employees with international business skills, cultural sensitivity, and foreign language facility. The international business major is designed to provide students with these competencies, preparing them for jobs and managerial careers in the global marketplace. Our interdisciplinary program trains you in the international aspects of strategy, economics, finance, marketing, and human resources management. Courses in foreign languages and culture, foreign policy, and international relations are also part of the curriculum, as are opportunities for studying abroad. Our students have studied or pursued internships in France, England, Spain, and Australia. Our courses have included trips to Costa Rica and Spain. International business graduates typically start their careers in the domestic operations of U.S. companies that have a global presence. Overseas assignments typically come later, unless the graduate possesses specialized language skills or international experience.
