课程简介
Undergraduates majoring in Childhood Education (Grades 1 to 6) must select a 30 to 32 credit academic specialty from the Liberal Arts and Sciences curriculum. Such study complements the Childhood Education courses and provides you with specialized knowledge in one particular discipline. This adds depth and breath to your level of teaching expertise. As a teacher, you can transmit your enthusiasm for the focused subject to young learners, helping them to grow intellectually and socially.

Mathematics is an indispensable cornerstone of any education, yet qualified math teachers are in short supply in schools throughout the country. In this program you will take courses that strengthen your understanding of basic mathematics while preparing you to introduce the subject at appropriate content levels to students in the early grades. The curriculum comprises courses in ''Calculus and Analytic Geometry'' and ''Mathematics for Elementary Education.'' Building on this foundation you will select from a menu of relevant electives that includes such topics as ''Introduction to Sets, Logic, and Mathematical Structures,'' ''Foundations of Statistical Analysis,'' ''Problem Solving,'' ''Algebraic Structures,'' and ''Geometry: An Informal Approach.'' Students take 30 credits in Mathematics to satisfy the requirements for the B.S. in Childhood Education degree program.
