The Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Mathematics Concentration Program is a 37 credit hour program that leads to initial teaching certification in grades 6-12 Mathematics. The program is intended for students with a BA or BS in Mathematics or an equivalent degree (e.g., Engineering) who wish to earn teacher certification with the State of Michigan. Successful graduates of this program will be qualified to earn the Mathematics (EX) endorsement in Michigan, which allows one to teach mathematics in 6th-12th grade classrooms. A student enrolled in this program, may seek advising, apply for scholarships, and participate in activities both in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences - the home department for this program - and in the Department of Teacher Education in the College of Education, home of the professional teaching courses.
