Prepare to conduct mathematics education research at the elementary, secondary, and postsecondary level. You will work closely with faculty on all aspects of the research process, including designing a research proposal, honing your methodology, implementing a research agenda, and disseminating findings. As a student in this doctoral program, you will take a series of courses focused on issues of teaching and learning and complete mathematics courses appropriate to the level of interest (elementary, secondary, post-secondary) in your research. If you're interested in doing work at the secondary or above level, you will take mathematics courses in the mathematics department.You'll graduate prepared to work as a researcher or teacher educator in mathematics education in colleges and universities. You'll also have the skills needed to excel as a mathematics education specialist or consultant in government organizations and multinational corporations.
