The Athletic Training (AT) program at West Virginia University prepares students to enter the healthcare field and practice sports medicine. Certified athletic trainers are highly qualified health professionals, trained in preventing, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries that result from physical activity. The AT program prides itself on a strong network of alumni who work throughout the United States and internationally. The undergraduate Athletic Training curriculum provides a solid background in anatomy and physiology, as well as orthopedic assessment, rehabilitation and biomechanics. These are a few of the classes that help prepare you to successfully complete the Board of Certification exam. The program contains a didactic and clinical component allowing you to practice classroom topics concurrently.
