Western Michigan University's Department of Human Performance and Health Education offers an entry-level professional program leading to a bachelor's degree in athletic training. The certified athletic trainer is a highly educated and skilled allied health professional specializing in athletic health care. In cooperation with physicians and other health care professionals, the athletic trainer functions as an integral member of the athletic health care team in secondary schools, colleges and universities, clinics, professional sports and other health care settings. As a student in WMU's athletic training program, you will be provided with a diverse and cooperative clinical environment through clinical practicum courses and clinical rotations. You will be placed in the University's Intercollegiate Athletic Department of Medical Services or various other clinical sites including area sports medicine clinics, Division III intercollegiate athletics and high schools.
