The Bachelor of Social Work degree prepares students for a wide range of entry-level generalist practice social service positions working in a variety of areas, such as schools, health care, non-profit, government, corporate, addiction recovery, human resources, immigration, hospice, long-term care, diversity, disability, advocacy, military and veteran care, and much more.<br>Students learn human behavior theories, how to address social problems, and how to advocate for social justice while developing cultural competence skills in assessing and helping individuals, families, and communities.<br>BSW students meeting advanced standing standards under the Council for Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation rules can earn credit toward the MSW degree.<br>Students must complete 120 credit hours to finish the program. This includes 18 hours of field internship, 36 hours of required social work courses, and 24 hours of outside electives, allowing many students to complete a minor.
