Corporate communication is an essential function of contemporary organizations that manages both internal and external communication with multiple stakeholders ranging from employees, customers, investors, media, government, and community, etc. The Graduate Certificate program in Corporate Communication offers comprehensive training in strategically planning and coordinating communication in order to construct and maintain a coherent organizational identity, image, and reputation. Corporate communication has become increasingly critical to organizational success due to the proliferation of social media and other emergent communication technologies, which allow greater interactivity between organizations and their constituencies and, therefore, create greater demand for transparency and accountability. The Graduate Certificate in Corporate Communication requires the completion of 12 credit hours and can be completed in one year or at a pace determined by students. This post baccalaureate certificate program is designed to offer training for students who wish to enhance their knowledge in the form of applicable theories and analytical skills in corporate communication. Depending on their professional background and interests, students have the flexibility to choose two theoretical courses, one method course, and one elective, which could be any graduate course in Communication or an independent study in the area of corporate communication. The theory courses will draw on conceptual understanding of the role of communication processes in fostering public opinion involving all stakeholders including internal and external publics. The program gives students an excellent grounding in theory, social science methods, and applications, guided by faculty expertise.
