课程简介
Journalism continues to evolve rapidly, as news consumers seek credible accounts of events and issues from multiple sources. The Journalism Program curriculum blends the skills required of media content creators with the principles of ethical journalistic practice. Emphasis is placed on the role of journalism in civic and political participation, and on the social justice awareness rooted in the University mission. Most GU journalism students work for the weekly student newspaper, The Gonzaga Bulletin, for which journalism majors earn credits as well as monetary stipends. Some students also seek professional experience through internships, which often lead to career opportunities at top media organizations following graduation. The Journalism major will- Be adept at articulating the roles that journalism plays in a democratic governmental system, and in the range of governmental systems internationally, through the lens of historical context. Demonstrate the ability to gather relevant information via research, interviews and observation that has inherent news value, and write stories using that information, in appropriate journalistic style.
