Our program combines fundamental journalism training and the latest technology and trends in the media world. You'll learn everything from the building blocks of good reporting to the cultural implications of our evolving media landscape.<br><br>You’ll take courses in research, reporting and editing. You’ll gain valuable professional experience through an internship.<br><br>You can choose to pursue our public relations concentration or take electives on topics like graphic design, sports reporting or social media.<br><br>Our journalism major offers students the flexibility to pair with a minor in another subject or take a wider variety of classes.<br>You'll have opportunities to gain real-world experience through:<br><br>Our award-winning, student-run newspaper, Central Michigan Life; our multimedia student lifestyle and features publication, Grand Central Magazine; or our student-run PR agency, PR Central, which serves campus and community clients.<br>A required internship. Previous internship locations include The Associated Press, the Detroit Free Press, The Washington Post, the Michigan House of Representatives, the American Red Cross and numerous public relations agencies.<br>Our unique internship program with China Daily, China's largest English language newspaper, based in Beijing.<br>You’ll learn the skills of an investigative reporter and the strategic thinking of a PR industry professional.
