Your course of study will be hands-on, filled with practical assignments and internships, and taught by outstanding faculty in small class sizes. You can choose from concentrations in public, interpersonal, or organizational communicationeach preparing you for graduate studies or a rewarding career in business, government, politics, public affairs, nonprofits, or the media.All communication studies undergraduate majors must take 21 credits of departmental core courses, including argumentation, human communication, intercultural communication, persuasion, presentational communication, and communication theory. You also must complete COMM 201 during your first semester in the department. From there, you will pick one of three concentrations in public, interpersonal, or organizational communication.Our concentration in public communication provides outstanding training for bachelor's degree students in the art of connecting with an audience through oratory. Our intensive and engaging course of study will take you through persuasion theory, how campaign communication works, and how to effectively use language in public speaking.
