The Professional Writing and Rhetoric (PWR) major provides students numerous opportunities to develop the writing, research, editing, and design expertise needed to excel in careers as copywriters, editors, screenwriters, public relations specialists, marketing coordinators, technical writers, attorneys, social media writers, non-profit writers, and other professional writing positions. Through faculty mentoring, writing internships, and writing-intensive courses, our major produces writers who are versatile communicators, creative professionals, and innovative problem-solvers.<br>Available courses include:<br>Writing for Social Change<br>Creative Nonfiction<br>Writing Internship<br>Studies in Public and Civic Writing <br>Style and Editing<br>Recent PWR graduates work at companies such as Tyndale Publishing House, Baylor University Press, Sterling Publishing, MIT Press, Baker Botts Law Firm, Inspire Energy, Baylor Scott and White Medical Center, National Instruments, and PAVLOV Advertising. Other PWR graduates choose to continue their graduate education in areas such as law, creative writing, public health, library science, political science, theology, and rhetoric.
