In our communication studies program, youll gain skills crucial to succeed in media and public communication careers. Youll learn to analyze written, oral, visual and electronic messages from historical, critical and social science perspectives. Youll also learn to produce such messages as a means of artistic and functional expression. The degree with honors will be awarded to majors who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 and a 3.50 GPA or above in communication studies and have, in their senior year, successfully completed 7 semester hours of communication studies honors work culminating in an approved senior thesis. The 7 semester hours of honors work shall consist of a capstone-designated course and COMS 498H taken over two semesters of the senior year, and COMS 495AH.
