A written statement of educational and professional goals (500 words)
Resume or curriculum vitae
Essay - Most of the world's problems derive from a failure to communicate. Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the preceding statement. Explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position you should consider how the statement might or might not hold true. Explain how these considerations shape your position in 500-750 words. Be sure to proof read your essay. You will be evaluated on quality of argumentation and clarity of writing.
Two letters of recommendation from professors, employers, and other professionals qualified to judge the applicant's ability to successfully complete a graduate program. Letters of recommendation for those applying for Graduate Teaching Assistantships should address applicant's potential for teaching.
Students who have not taken undergraduate coursework in research methods in communication or a related field are encouraged to submit a writing sample that demonstrates their writing, research, and analytical proficiencies. Students who have questions about their research methods preparation are encouraged to contact the Program Director.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT total score of 80 or above. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall band score of 6.5 or above.

课程简介
The School of Communication Studies promotes an academic environment in which students, faculty and staff develop innovative communication practices and facilitate constructive dialogue in the classroom and community to inspire responsible citizenship in a diverse world. We are committed to the teaching of communication theory and criticism, the development of communication and advocacy skills, the research of communication processes and practices, and the application of generated knowledge about human communication toward the betterment of self and community. The core spans applied theory and contexts as well as research methods and tools. It is designed to prepare students to systematically examine, assess, critique and develop communication advocacy practices across a wide range of areas. Additional requirements and electives allow students to develop competencies in specific areas of advocacy studies. The Master of Arts in communication and advocacy program is 36 credit hours.
