In the workplace or in the community, we are faced with issues that require people to take a position and to advocate for better solutions. Advocacy is a key communication skill for all careers, but especially for careers in law, government and social services. The ability to advocate appropriately and effectively for personal needs contributes to life satisfaction. Students select elective courses from an array of disciplines to build a knowledge base for the workplace or community for which they will advocate. A degree in Applied Speech Communication with a concentration in Public Advocacy positions students with specific skills and experiences to prepare them for success in a variety of careers in advocacy positions.
