The Special Concentration Option allows a student to plan an individualized course of study around a special interest. Recent students have designed special concentrations in Psycholinguistics, Computational Linguistics, teaching Spanish, teaching Japanese, and teaching Chinese.<br>The department offers an undergraduate major in Linguistics, including options in Translation Studies and TESOL, a minor in Linguistics, a major and minor in ASLD, an option in ASL - English Interpreting, an undergraduate minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and the MA with four options: TESOL, General, Language and Culture and Special Option. This program is designed both for students who wish to pursue further graduate study and those seeking a terminal degree.
