In addition to the Graduate College minimum requirements, applicants must meet the following program requirements: Baccalaureate Field No restrictions. Grade Point Average Recommended minimum of 2.75/4.00 for the final 60 semester (90 quarter) hours of undergraduate study and at least 3.00 for all postbaccalaureate/graduate course work.

Minimum English Competency Test Score: TOEFL 80, with sub scores of Reading 19, Listening 17, Speaking 20, and Writing 21 (iBT Test); 60, with sub scores of Reading 19, Listening 17, Writing 21 (revised Paper-Delivered Test), OR, IELTS 6.5, with sub scores of 6.0 for all four sub scores, OR, PTE-Academic 54, with sub scores of Reading 51, Listening 47, Speaking 53, and Writing 56.

The MEd in Language, Literacies and Learning (LLL) program prepares educators to meet the unique challenges of language and literacy learning in a multicultural and digital world. The program promotes an expansive definition of literacy that includes digital as well as hands-on learning, with a focus on teaching in multicultural, multilingual urban contexts and addressing issues of language and literacy among English learners.<br><br>Through coursework with our Curriculum & Instruction faculty, become an expert in one or more of the following areas:<br><br>Language and literacy instruction (including ESL, critical digital literacies) in elementary classrooms, secondary classrooms, and alternative settings such as out-of-school contexts and adult education contexts<br>Language and literacy research and its impact on practice and policy<br>Strategies for school, district, and curricular leaders to support language and literacy teaching and learning
