Communicate with your neighbors in their native tongue, whether they're next door or on the other side of the world. You can major in French, Italian, Russian or Spanish; pick up a minor in any of those languages as well as Chinese or German; and dabble in Arabic, Greek, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Japanese, and Portuguese. With fluency in another language—and the cultural connections that are inextricable linked to it—you will not only travel the world with more confidence, you'll also become a very desirable candidate for careers in almost any position imaginable, from education to law, international relations to business, and government to the arts, to name just a few.
