The FIU Portuguese major develops students' ability to speak and write the language with fluency and proficiency, including classes on Luso-Brazilian culture, literature, cinema, business language, grammar, oral performance. The department also offers an optional Summer Study Abroad Program in Brazil to develop the student's language skills and cultural exposure, besides a minor and a certificate in Portuguese. Our Portuguese Program is a Celpe-Bras Proficiency Exam testing center accredited by the Brazil's Ministry of Education.
