Latin American and Caribbean Studies offerings at the University of New Orleans include Spanish language, social sciences, humanities, business and science classwork. Students may pursue either a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies (BA/IS) major with a concentration in Latin American and Caribbean Studies or a minor which can be combined with any other major.<br><br>The BA/IS concentration in Latin American & Caribbean Studies is designed to produce students with a broad and deep understanding of the history, culture, politics, and society of Latin America and the Caribbean region.<br><br>The concentration prepares students for careers in international business, law, economic development, journalism, education, and social services. The Latin American & Caribbean Studies concentration also provides an excellent foundation for graduate work in Latin American & Caribbean Studies or within a particular social science discipline.<br><br>The BAIS Program in the College of Liberal Arts also administers the minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. The minor signifies that students have a fundamental understanding of this part of the world and grounding in the Spanish language.
