Experimental psychologists generate answers to questions that matter most to people by applying the scientific method to its domain of inquiry-how people think, feel, and behave. Research topics can include psychophysics, perception, attention and reaction time, conditioning and learning, remembering and forgetting, thinking and program solving, individual differences and development, social psychology, environmental psychology, and human factors. The Master of Science in Experimental Psychology is a 39 credit-hour program. The MS thesis offers students the opportunity to complete a manuscript describing original research that they have carried out in partial fulfillment of degree requirements. The advanced coursework in the areas of statistics and research methods, ethics, neuroscience and cognitive psychology will help Rivier graduates become more competitive in the doctoral application process (Ph.D., Psy.D.).
