课程简介
Clinical psychology addresses the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal behaviors and mental illness. Rivier University's Master of Science in Clinical Psychology prepares students for a wide variety of careers, as well as for admission to doctoral psychology programs. The program provides a foundation in biopsychosocial teaching, which assumes that biological and psychological factors (thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and other social factors) contribute to people's health and well-being. Additionally, students develop methodological and quantitative skills through research design, data collection, analysis, and evaluation. Graduates desiring a clinical psychologist career will continue on to doctoral study. Clinical psychologists can choose to be generalists or to specialize in working with specific populations or with those people who have specific disorders (e.g., learning disabilities, eating disorders, substance abuse). Psychologists assess and treat their patients in a variety of settings such as hospitals, community and mental health clinics, prisons, private practice, schools and colleges, and rehabilitation centers.
