Family and Consumer Sciences programs are found in middle schools, high schools, career centers and in adult education programs. FCS instructors teach courses in child development, nutrition and wellness, financial management, personal development, family relations and global cuisine. Graduates in the Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Education Program are prepared to work with students in educational settings, especially in public schools at the middle and secondary levels. They acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to be relevant in today's world, addressing childhood obesity, financial management, positive parenting, career decision-making and leadership skills, among other topics.
