As a human development and family studies major, you'll investigate the ways we develop over the life span—from conception through aging—as well as how we function within our family and broader social environments. Challenging courses and a required internship will prepare you for a career in the growing field of human and social services. Human development and family studies majors may work in community services for families or youth, mental health agencies, or careers of service to individuals with special needs. You will also have an excellent foundation if you wish to apply to graduate programs in social work, public health, medicine, counseling, and other related fields.
