Human Development majors study individual, family, and group dynamics to gain an in-depth understanding of human behavior. Coursework includes classes in education, psychology, sociology, and social work, a wide range of elective courses enables students to concentrate their studies in areas of personal interest. To acquire a conceptual understanding of individual's and families' development across the lifespan and in the context of culture and society, students are required to complete a 25-hour field experience working with children/youth with special needs, and they are strongly encouraged to engage in global and study abroad experiences. Graduates are prepared for a variety of careers in healthcare, social services, education, business, and government and for study at the master's level.
