The Japanese Studies program focuses on Japanese language, literature and culture. Learn to communicate with the more than 130 million Japanese speakers through your courses and one of DePaul's Study Abroad programs in Kyoto, Nagoya or Osaka. Fluency in Japanese and an understanding of Japanese culture will prepare you for a variety of careers and set you up for professional success. Knowing another language is an invaluable skill in our increasingly interconnected world. The undergraduate and graduate programs offered by the Department of Modern Languages help you develop the ability to communicate, converse, understand, read and write another language, gain appreciation of its literature and culture, and become more fully engaged as a citizen.
