Students who meet our standard admission requirements generally have the following minimum combination of SAT/ACT score and GPA to start at UM-Flint:

3.7 high school GPA
1260 SAT/27 ACT score
IELTS - 5.5 overall band
TOEFL - 61 (Internet Based), 500 (Paper Based), 173 (Computer Based)

All majors are encouraged to meet with their Africana Studies advisors at least twice during each semester or term that they are enrolled. The Department of Africana Studies at the University of Michigan-Flint prepares students for the ever-demanding need to engage and function in a diverse society. It is a multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary field of study that provides a well-rounded education in the tradition of the liberal arts and sciences. A degree in Africana Studies will deepen students? knowledge of Africa and the African Diaspora.
