The Department of Nutrition at UNC Greensboro serves international, national, regional, and local communities through discovery of the ways in which foods and their bioactive components contribute to health, the prevention of disease, and through effective application of nutrition knowledge to improve human health and well-being.<br><br>Our dynamic program reflects the constantly changing field of nutrition. We provide a low student-to-faculty ratio, which allows for personal attention in teaching, advising, and mentoring. Many classes include a service-learning component, which gives students additional opportunities for hands-on application of their coursework. Upon graduation students are prepared for a variety of career choices and professional school or graduate school options.<br><br>Many of our students receive awards for their research, including McNair Scholarship, Undergraduate Research and Creativity Award, the Provost Student Excellence Award, the Lloyd International Honors Student Excellence in either International or Disciplinary Honors, and many HHS Scholarships.<br>The Human Nutrition and Dietetics concentration (also known as the Didactic Program in Dietetics DPD) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).<br>Human nutrition and dietetics graduates are eligible to apply for preselection (early decision) into our MS/DI (docx) program.<br>The Nutrition Department's laboratories are state of the art.<br>Students have received Undergraduate Research Awards.
