The outdoor classroom consists of a 75-acre lake, a 35-acre botanical garden and 380 acres of forest and restored grasslands set aside as a nature preserve. The Department of Biological Sciences is located in Science Building West, a modern, science education facility with fully equipped teaching and research labs. The Department includes extensive botanical and zoological teaching collections, and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology in: <br><br>Microscopy<br>Physiology<br>Histology<br>Cell biology<br>Microbiology<br>Genetics and toxicology research<br>The Department of Biological Sciences Graduate Program offers the graduate degrees of Master of Arts (M.A.) and Master of Science (M.S.) and, in conjunction with the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the School of Education, provides courses that support the Master of Science in Education degree in secondary education with a teaching field in biology.<br><br>Graduate students in biological sciences may concentrate in one of several areas such as evolution, ecology and environment, conservation biology, anatomy, physiology, genetics, cellular and molecular biology, and genetic engineering.
