To apply for admission as an undergraduate student, each international student is required to provide the following:
A completed application for undergraduate admission.
Complete one required essay chosen from one of seven prompts.
Optional: Submit recommendation letters (academic, professional, or personal) and a Personal Statement.
Upload Secondary School Transcripts, Diplomas, Certificates, or Examination Results
For students attending a high school in the US, our admissions team uses your self-reported grades to calculate your UT core GPA.
For students attending secondary school outside the US, our admissions team will need official copies of your transcript, diploma, or certificate prior to enrollment.
Request your secondary school or counselor to send your official transcripts. Transcripts, certificates, or diplomas must come directly from the issuing school or issuing ministry or body. Official transcripts are certified copies sent directly from the authorized school official.
Submit Proof of English Proficiency -
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) or IELTS Indicator – a minimum score of 6.5.
TOEFL-IBT - overall score 70.

The Department of Psychology offers both the largest undergraduate program and the largest doctoral program at the University of Tennessee, and has gained national recognition for the quality of our scientific research, faculty, and students.The Psychology Department has approximately 110 graduate students in three graduate programs: a basic science program in Experimental Psychology, with concentrations in Cognitive and Development Science, Social, and Neuroscience and Behavior, and two nationally accredited, applied doctoral programs, in Clinical Psychology and in Counseling Psychology. We also have over 900 undergraduate majors in Psychology. We award almost 500 undergraduate bachelor's degrees in Psychology annually, almost one fourth of the undergraduate degrees granted by the College of Arts and Sciences.As scholars, teachers, and learners, the faculty and students of the Psychology Department share a commitment to open intellectual inquiry, public scholarship, respectful dialogue, civic responsibility, and maintenance of a collegial, supportive environment to foster professional development and education of all in our community while advancing the science of Psychology.
