This programme will introduce students to amenity plant and garden knowledge and care, plant and soil science, amenity garden tool use and care, weed and plant pest control, and amenity lawn care. Over the semester students will take a look at amenity place and garden knowledge and care, plant and soil science, amenity garden tool use and care, weed and plant pest control, and amenity lawn care. At Wintec, students will gain the knowledge, training and skills to care for public and private gardens, parks and open spaces, while also getting the benefit of learning at the beautiful Hamilton Gardens campus Amenity horticulturalists contribute to society through advising on plant choices, overseeing horticultural programmes, planning regeneration projects, and managing green spaces. Typically students will study the horticultural programmes over two years to develop the skills and knowledge to be amenity gardeners, collection curators, grounds people or amenity contractors.
