The Master of Science in Architecture degree provides advanced students the opportunity to enter into an intensive course of study that encourages both critical awareness and technological proficiency in the context of design research. The program is two semesters long with consecutive fall and spring terms providing a 30-credit curriculum that integrates design studios, history/theory seminars, building and environmental science courses, and software and fabrication courses. Students are provided the option of concentrating in Environmental Parametrics, which places emphasis on knowledge and expertise in performance design at the building scale, or Ecological Urbanism, which places emphasis on theoretical speculation and design experimentation at the urban scale.independently propose, refine, and develop a comprehensive design proposal. demonstrate effective research skills, including the ability to explore sources of knowledge external to the discipline of architecture. demonstrate analytic ability as it regards the history and theory of architecture through writing as well as verbal presentations. demonstrate the capacity to document and present a comprehensive design proposal in a clear and effective manner, which includes a mastery of all necessary forms of representation and production, both analog and digital. communicate arguments in lucid written prose as well as demonstrate a working knowledge of the use of citations and attributions in scholarly writing and presentations.
