Chartered architectural technologists lead on technological design. Our Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) accredited course explores the science of architecture: learn to turn design concept into reality where passive design, innovation and performance are key drivers. You can choose to take a placement year in industry. Architectural technology has four major themes: technology, design, management and practice. Our course will give you the skills you need to practise successfully in each area, along with a thorough understanding of scientific, technological and organisational principles. Explore the principles of practice management, rationalized architectural design and how to lead projects from residential to commercial. You will learn to play a pivotal role in the design and construction process. Focusing on the relationships between materials, function, production and the environment, our course will help you to think about buildings in terms of buildability, sustainability and performance. You will learn to appreciate detailed design and production information, including regulatory issues, and how they relate to procurement and contract administration.
