The B.A. in liberal studies is a multidisciplinary degree program that allows students to select three minors, two of which must be within the College of Liberal Arts. Students create a flexible degree program that may fit academic or career interests more precisely than a traditional B.A. degree. In particular, students who anticipate graduate or professional study in an area that does not require a specific undergraduate specialty (business, law, or medicine, for example) may find this program especially well-suited to their needs and interests.Liberal Studies students at the University of Mississippi select three minor fields of study, two of which must be within the College of Liberal Arts. Choose from among 60 total minors, ranging from the arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences.Students put together a program of study tailored to their interests and prepare for a variety of careers or further education. This program is based on the deep and wide foundation of a liberal arts general education. Advisors in the College Dean's office help students plan their curriculum and think through the linkages with professional goals.<br><br>A liberal arts education prepares graduates to deal with complexity and change. They gain key skills in communication, problem-solving, and working with diverse groups. Careers related to liberal studies include education, law, health care, government, non-profit, business, and military service.
