UTSA's Classical Studies and Humanities degree is an interdisciplinary major that allows you to explore human culture and knowledge from several divergent perspectives like language, literature, art, archaeology, history and culture. Using these insights, you'll be able to pursue knowledge in ancient cultures or in the history of ideas and expression through various time periods, ranging from prehistoric to the rise of Christianity. Studying Classics and Humanities provides students with the disciplinary background and curricular opportunities to understand, analyze and reflect upon the development of human culture and expression.Students whose grade point average in the Classical Studies and Humanities major before the beginning of their final year at UTSA is 3.25 or above, and whose overall grade point average is 3.0, may earn Honors in Classical Studies and Humanities. To do so, a student must complete a substantial paper approved by the Department Scholarship and Honors Committee and maintain a 3.25 grade point average in the major. The grade point average requirements apply to all transfer work as well as all courses taken at UTSA.
