课程简介
The Advanced Certificate Program in Bilingual School Counseling (18-27 credits) is for students who already have a master's degree in counseling and wish to meet the educational requirements to become certified as a school counselor with the bilingual extension. To enter this program, students' graduate transcript in counseling must reflect coursework in professional issues and ethics, social and cultural diversity, human growth and development, career development, helping relationships, group work, and assessment. Building upon these core content areas, the bilingual school counseling advanced certificate program focuses specifically on the development of knowledge and skills necessary to work in today's schools, such as: contemporary practice of school counseling with ethno-linguistically diverse students and families, school-based research, program development and evaluation, advocacy, leadership, collaboration and consultation. The program satisfies the educational requirements for provisional certification as a school counselor and the bilingual extension for practice as a bilingual school counselor. Permanent certification requires a total of 60 credits and two years experience as a school counselor. To receive the bilingual extension, a passing grade on the Bilingual Education Assessment Exam is required.
