The Master of Arts in College Counseling program is a 60 credit hour minimum program leading to professional counseling licensure in Michigan. This program is designed for students who are interested in working as professional counselors in institutions of higher education, practicing clinical college counseling, career counseling, academic advising, case management, or applying counseling skills in student affairs. You will study core areas of professional counseling including life and career development, research and assessment, basic and advanced counseling skills, individual and group counseling processes, counseling theories, crisis intervention, cross-cultural counseling, diagnosis and treatment planning, and ethical, professional and legal issues in counseling. In addition, students will engage in rigorous supervised counseling experiences which include a 100 clock-hour supervised practicum and 600 clock-hour supervised counseling internship experience.
