By selecting the Special Education K-12 Cognitive Impairment Endorsement - Secondary Major you will earn a Bachelor of Science that leads to a secondary education teaching certificate with a K-12 Cognitive Impairment (SA) endorsement. You will learn the skills necessary for assessing, teaching and modifying instruction and curriculum for students with cognitive impairments. This includes using research-based strategies to promote the development of language, reading, writing, spelling, calculating and thinking. Skill development continues as you learn to plan and implement instruction in a variety of settings and domains, using assistive technology to support students wherever and whenever it is needed. As a student in this program, you can take advantage of all that the College of Education has to offer. You may seek advising, apply for scholarships, and participate in activities both in Special Education, the home department for this major, and in the Department of Teacher Education.
