We provide an innovative and nurturing co-educational primary school program. We cater to the individual needs and competencies of each student through a strong core program, supplemented by our individual student programs while upholding the traditions and values of Ivanhoe Grammar School.From Foundation through to Year 6, teachers at both Buckley House and Primary at Plenty Campus work together to develop a creative, cohesive and sequential program that reflects current research and an understanding of how children learn. Our classroom programs are designed to cater for the individual needs of all students, promoting a love of learning.A strong focus is placed on inquiry-based learning where curiosity is nurtured and 21st century skills are developed.Knowledge, skills and understanding are developed in the eight learning areas of the Australian Curriculum: English, Mathematics, Science, Health and Physical Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, The Arts, Technologies and Languages.A particular priority is placed on the importance of social and emotional learning, because as a school we understand the role this plays in a student’s overall development. We also offer specialised support and enrichment programs for students who have particular needs or strengths.Technology is embedded across the Primary Years and is viewed as a tool for engagement and enhancement of their learning. They utilise technology to collaborate, present, research and communicate with their peers and teachers. Through a one-to-one iPad program, students learn to become responsible digital citizens.
