The University offers a bachelor of science (BS) in science education.<br>The Science Education Program prepares students for licensure to teach in middle school, junior high, and high school. The program leads to teaching licensure in one or more of the following areas: biology, chemistry, earth space science, physics, or middle school science.<br>Science Education is an interdisciplinary program. The program contains three components:<br>A science core<br>A concentration in earth space science or middle school science or second major in biology, chemistry or physics<br>Professional education courses<br>Science education students receive extensive experience teaching in classroom settings, and participate in practical experiences at the middle school and high school levels. Students in the program have multiple opportunities to participate in a range of volunteer or internship experiences. Some of these include participating as an undergraduate research assistant, a student leader of outreach projects such as the Bat Festival, a mentor in the ISU Summer Science Camp, or a science fair judge.
