English proficiency requirements (one of the following):

TOEFL IBT – 71; IELTS – 6.0; ELS – Level 109 PTE Academic – 52

We have rolling admission, which means we can admit students to WKU close to the start of each semester; however, we recommend that students apply at least two months before the start of their semester to ensure they have enough time to receive an I-20, student visa, housing, and scholarship information.

Students seeking admission to the SMED program must earn a grade of C or higher in SMED 101102 and must meet requirements for admission to the Teacher Education Program. The SMED program requires completion of 34 hours of professional education courses taught by SKyTeach Faculty and Master Teachers. All professional education courses in Science and Mathematics Education (SMED) require clinical field experiences in order to meet Kentucky Educational Professional Standards Board (EPSB) guidelines. The College of Education and Behavioral Sciences prepares students through applied learning opportunities including experiences in classrooms, research laboratories, clinics, our communities, and across the globe. Our students graduate as empowered professionals, leading and serving in the global workforce. Recruit and retain students dedicated to teaching, leading, and serving. Enhance the faculty and staff experience through the incorporation of current technologies; replacing outdated and paper-based work processes. Expand applied learning opportunities for students focusing on social engagement, social justice, and considerations expected of a diverse community. Broaden and strengthen faculty and community engagement in program-specific continuous program improvement practices and alumni needs.
