All students planning to pursue a master's degree or a certification plan which requires a master's degree must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited university and have either an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.000 or greater or a GPA of 3.000 or greater in their last 60 hours. The last 60 hours, listed chronologically, including the full semester in which the 60th hour appears, will be used to calculate the GPA for the last 60 hours.
Students with an overall GPA of 2.500 or above but less than 3.000 in the last 60 hours, including those who already hold a master's or doctoral degree, may pursue a master's degree or certification plan requiring a master's degree by obtaining one of the following:
A combined score of 294 or greater on the quantitative and verbal portions of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and a 3.5 or greater on the analytical writing portion of the GRE. (If the GRE was taken prior to August 2011, a combined score or 900 or greater on the quantitative and verbal portions of the GRE is required.)
A score of 390 or greater on the Miller Analogies Test (MAT).
Official International English Language System (IELTS) scores of 6.0 or higher, TOEFL - scores of 79, TOEFL exam - 550 on the paper-based TOEFL exam,

School librarians create a vibrant culture of literacy by teaching critical skills young people need to evaluate and manage information while using innovative technology to share ideas. With a Master of Science in School Library and Information Science from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, you'll become one of your school's most dynamic educators who will not only build on the traditional role of nurturing a love for reading and developing high-quality collections to support the school curriculum, you will also be well equipped to support students and teachers in using innovative technologies to expand and enhance teaching and learning.<br><br>UHCL's School Library and Information Science Program focuses solely on school librarianship. Faculty have a long history in school librarianship and consist of former district library supervisors and National Board Certified teachers. This program is designed for passionate people eager to support student learning by: <br><br>Leading elementary, middle, or high school teachers in the integration of technology,<br>Collaborating with teachers to develop lessons in all curricular areas,<br>Helping students become information-literate,<br>Teaching students about the ethical use of resources, and<br>Implementing and promoting school-wide literacy programs, all of which impact student learning. <br>This degree will prepare you to: <br><br>Analyze and identify the needs of diverse communities of users,<br>Assist and educate users to resources,<br>Develop and manage collections of information resources,<br>Deploy information technologies in effective and innovative ways, and<br>Effectively evaluate and use research.
