Information Systems (IS) is at the heart of any organization. Companies rely on information to make good decisions, create new products and services, and understand their target audience. IS professionals integrate hardware and software to help organizations manage their information. This major prepares you to work in the field. You'll focus on using computer technology and various information methods to solve business problems. The IS program at Illinois State is accredited by ABET. The major has three sequences you can take. There is also an Information Systems minor. The Information Systems (IS) Major is designed to prepare professionals in Information Systems including such areas as systems analysis and design. This degree focuses on the use of computer technology and information management methods to solve business problems. This requires an understanding of both the organizational context of the problem and the technologies, methodologies, and tools typically utilized. There are three sequences within this program: the Integration of Enterprise Systems Sequence, the Systems Development/Analyst Sequence, and the Web Application Development Sequence.
