This is an intensive program in physics designed to prepare specialists for graduate training in physics or (by appropriate choice of electives) for employment in industry. The program has ample room for electives in the arts and sciences and for teacher certification, if desired. Our small classes are taught by faculty, not graduate students. Hands-on projects and collaborative work in class allow you to see the real-world applications of the theories you learn. We even have an atomic force microscope for solid state physics research. Our classes prepare you for internships, research work, and presentations. At UHart, you can do that. In the CT Space Grant Consortium, you can do collaborative work in condensed matter with students from other Connecticut universities. Maybe you?d rather work with a faculty member on research to present at a national conference, like the APS Division of Nuclear Physics. Or perhaps you'll spend your time in an internship at places like the Brookhaven National Laboratory, the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, or the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
